Costume Week in Seattle part 2

Here we go again. It seemed like a waste of God-given talent to hold only one costume week, and so we did it again; surprisingly, much to the delight of our boss. When he found out that the best dressed will get an award, he thought that it was a good motivation for his employees. As a result, he didn't complain when he saw his "teachers" dressed as looting pirates, as cowboys and girls from the wild west, as natives of the Philippines, as another profession, and as students.
This month's costume week became a little bit competitive, not because of the 100 peso reward for the best dressed personnel (heck, the money we spent for our costumes is way more than that!) but because of the 100 peso fine if we didn't participate. Some simply did their best because they love it. ahem.. har har

Jeepney Ride

this is what we do every single day of the week. And you know what, i never get tired of it. i used to hate the routine, but when i stopped viewing it as a routine, i realized the beauty that each new day brings.
sometimes, it is just better to slow down a little to appreciate the wonderful things that exists in all of us, all around us, even in a jeepney ride.

Costume Week in Seattle

Put twenty something people in one office, give them lots of pressure and lots of work loads, repeat the same cycle over and over again, and this is what happens -- costume week!
No, we haven't lost our minds yet. We simply wanted to break away from the monotony of office work and do something different.
The experience was over-the-top fun and liberating. We also realized the shallowness of our desires and we LIKED it! Lol.

Monday: Office Attire
i never thought we could actually look like real human beings.

Tuesday: Sports Wear
uh-huh. this picture was taken just right outside
of our dormitory, with all the tricycle drivers looking on.

Wednesday: Aloha! Hawaii
the flowers people were wearing this day were either stolen
from someone else's backyard or taken
from the highways of Davao City

Thursday: Goth
dream day! we've always wanted to wear those all black
ensemble of gothic people. this was the coolest day evah!

Friday: Trip down memory lane - Retro
No, that's not Ichigo from Bleach. that's Big Bird with a really
bad haircut. Retro people! feel the lerv (love)... XOXO

thank god for free wi-fis....

i don't know if it's illegal to connect to other companies' wi-fi. for my own sake, i hope not.

anyhow, this morning, i got to the office quite earlier than the usual. the roads were unusually puj, taxi, and even pedestrain-free. so there, we arrived at the office at 7:15 AM! (FYI: we go home at 7:30 PM..)

then, i turned on my computer, waited for everything to load up. to my dismay, the server wasn't up yet. it wouldn't matter anyway because most of the sites i frequent are blocked (hmm.. i wonder why.. they're not THAT graphic.. bwehehehe)

then, perhaps the heavens heard my quiet despair, something popped up in my network list... weeee~!! there it was!

the boss was brushing his teeth, so i was free for the moment. the opportunistic parasite that i am grabbed on the moment and clicked the ever so tempting "connect anyway" button. everything was a blur! i could not even remember the other words in the box. the "connect" button just lit up like a neon sign.. bwehehe

the bottom line is, i am very thankful for these unselfish individuals who give people like me access to free internet connection even though there are quite some risks to doing so.. (right?) i also apologize in advance if my parasitic activities might cause any damage to your wi-fi service in the future.. (hontouni sumimasen deshita) huhuhu...

once you pop, you can't stop

Whoa! Are these for REAL?! OOOOHH YESH they definitely are. They are cosplayers.

Cosplaying is definitely an incredibly addicting hobby, whether you’re just watching or participating in it. I know, I know… some people think that it is an unusual hobby of choice, but how many of us in this world—even for a spilt second—have wanted to be someone else even for a short, okay, very short period of time? Someone whom we think is outta-this-world, over-the-top awesome and outrageously effortlessly cool? (I may be overdoing it, ne? haha). Not everyone gets to make it on the big screen, ya know. For a wannabe like me, I thank god the almighty everyday for the quirky people who came up with cosplaying… (thaaaank you! XOXO)

Just look at those AAAHHH-MAZE-ZA-ZINNGGG costumes that they came up with. Jeeezus H.! Aren’t they just something else!??

Is cosplaying easy? HELL NO! Cosplaying is no child’s play! It’s totally different from impersonating other real-life people. Come to think of it, for some cases, a cosplayer has to bring to life— as faithfully as possible, mind you— a fictional character with qualities beyond anything humanly possible! It takes talent, passion, and lots and lots of guts to do that! Oh yesh! And if a cosplayer does pull it off, MAHN!, it just takes your breath away! Nothing short of overwhelming….GARRRR!!!!

You’d go like “OH MY GHAD! Is that dit-dit-dit from dit-dit-dit?!” or like “OOHH!! AHH!! WOW!!!” (words wouldn’t be enough anymore.. hahaha), then, you’d take out your cam, then click-click here and click-click there and the photos end up in friendster, myspace, or multiply (haha). If that were me, I’d throw myself all over that cosplayer and monopolize him/her for as long as I can hold back the other oglers (You have been warned! Bwahahaha..)

It’s like the world becomes totally different. It evokes different inexplicable emotions and memories in you and time just stops! The only thing that matters for that moment IS that moment. I don’t think that a person has to be a fanatic to appreciate a really good cosplay. And if a person doesn’t, bring the bigot forward so that I can wring the bastard’s neck… ngiyahaha…

Isn't it simply adorable??? nigyahaha... (best cosplayer?)

Oh! AND! The best part of all of these is cosplay is gaining strength in our local scene! Ya-hohoho!!! And MAHN do our local cosplayers RRRRRROCK! Behold!

If you guys want more photos of these cosplayers extraordinaire, check out the links over there under Rinku Mania.

Looks like I’ll be dreaming of cosplayers tonight. DARNIT! I’m too fired-up to go to sleep! Ngiyahaha!!!

Much ado about blogging

Actually, the more appropriate title would be “much ado about my first post”, but it didn’t sound as clever so.. SCRAP!

Lo’ and behold, my first post! Hehehe.. Before I decided to make a new blog, I had looked up several other blogs for tips and designs and whatever stuffs I could think of that time, and had even asked (but more like stalked, and pestered) some of my friends who also have blogs for their opinions in order to come up, not with the perfect blog but, with a decent one. A blog that would really reflect the things I have in mind – however pointless they are.

And so, I have this really neatly designed, in my opinion that is, blog with a cool, sunny, warm picturesque beach on the header and my ultimately kawaii picture right there in the profile (haha). Even though I don’t know how to make my own template yet, I think the one I chose sorta worked out with the design I’d had in mind. So, in short, I was pretty satisfied with the look (ahem…)

(SFX: Drum roll…)

Then came the hard part… I was grinning like a fool, admiring my work (even inwardly squirming with delight), self-satisfaction written all over my stupid face when I realized that I have to post something (duh! Bugu uy!) Then, my mind went blank. I just couldn’t post anything. Well, more like I don’t know what to say. Should I start with a “Hi” or “Hello”, or better yet, use another language so that they’d think I’m smart?! (evil laugh) I absolutely had no idea what to write. My respect for writers suddenly shot up several levels. (Whoa! I said to myself, This writing stuff is hard!)

Does everybody have this kind of dilemma? Or it’s just me? I mean, I don’t know about other people, but whenever I write something that will eventually be viewed by other people, I have this notion that it will inevitably be criticized. So I try to write as well as I can (ha! As if) for as long as I can. For example, the time given is 50 minutes, I would never finish earlier than that. Sometimes, I don’t finish writing at all… (huhuhu) You could say that I want to impress the readers (is it working? Hehe..joke)

Writing the beginning of a composition has always been my “majorest” obstacle – uh-huh, there are lots of other problems – since the time I learned how to write (meaning it still is). Technical writing, I’m okay with that because that was what my training had been focused on when I was in college. But at creative writing, I’d be slaughtered by a fifth grader (mercy!). So I put on my thinking cap, sat on my thinking chair and thought, did more thinking, and more and more.

My fingers were set on the keyboard. My eyes fixed on the monitor. I was waiting for a muse to come. I guess they were busy at that time because nothing came. I literally stared at the screen for hours (I wasn’t even aware that I was doing that). Staring at the blank document, so white and so clean, intimidated me further so I went away from my computer and walked around our office. Still, I couldn’t think of anything (sigh). I was seriously troubled with my first post.

After several grueling hours of deliberating, I finally decided to do away with the I-want-to-impress-my-readers thought and just write whatever’s really on my mind. My friend said that if I continue being paranoid about other’s comments, I wouldn’t be able to write anything at all. She’s right. If I’m too afraid of other people’s criticisms, there would be no point in making this blog.

So, it all came down to this, my first post. A candidly written account of how I struggled—truly, I did – to come up with it (shrug). It might not be the best, it might not even be good at all. There are a lot of grammatical errors, and the organization of ideas is just not there.. haha.. my teachers and colleagues would be horrified if saw this bwahaha.. But, guess what, it’s okay. I was able to express myself. To me, that’s all that matters.

And so, without further ado, Blogging, here I come!!! Bwehehe.. (yeah right)

Anyway, that’s all! Expect more banalities from this banal blog. ngyahaha...
